HIGHLIGHTS FROM BLACK STAR HISTORICAL COLLECTION DEBUTS IN CONTACT TORONTO PHOTOGRAPHY FESTIVAL TORONTO, Canada — A wounded English aviator taken prisoner by German soldiers during WWI, Vietnam War protesters in Washington D.C., a young Cassius Clay training underwater in 1961.These scenes are among some 100 gripping images from The Black Star Collection at Ryerson University: Highlights, which are being presented at the Allen Lambert Galleria, BCE Place, May 7 to 27. TORONTO, Canada —Highlights from Ryerson's Black Star Historical Black & White Photography Collection will be featured in a digital exhibition running from November 18th until December 2nd, 2005.RYERSON'S BLACK STAR COLLECTION HIGHLIGHTS ON DISPLAY TORONTO, Canada —Ryerson University has acquired one of the world’s great collections of photography. A remarkable visual legacy of the 20th century, Ryerson’s Black Star Historical Black & White Photography Collection is an internationally-renowned collection of almost 300,000 black and white photographs with extraordinary artistic and documentary value. The Ryerson Library has recently acquired two significant collections that will greatly enhance its support of programs in the School of Image Arts, particularly the master’s program in Photographic Preservation and Collections Management. Kodak Canada has recently donated its entire historic company archives to Ryerson University. The Library will also soon acquire an extensive collection of materials on the history of photography from the private collection of Nicholas M. & Marilyn A. Graver of Rochester, N.Y. |
