When we think of interactivity, the first thing that comes to mind is computers. Why is this? The idea of interactivity existed long before the PC made it onto the scene, in fact we interact with everything all around us every day, without even touching a computer. When going about creating my interactivity without computers, I decided to look back on what I used to do as a child. Playing with dolls is definitely something every girl remembers from her childhood, and that’s the direction I decided to go in.

Instructions for making a paper doll:

1. Draw the desired out line of your doll onto a piece of heavy weight paper for durability. This will be the actual doll, as well as the template for creating the clothing and accessories for your doll.

2. Once the doll has been drawn, cut it out and decorate it in whichever way you wish. Hair may be included, but this can also be left out if you desire to have different styles of hair as accessories for the doll.

3. Place the doll on a different piece of paper, and draw around it to get the general outline. Then, draw clothes onto the doll. They may protrude from the outlines of the original doll, such as a skirt coming away from the form of the doll. Draw “tabs” on the shoulders, feet and along the sides of the garments.

4. Cut out the clothing, making sure to include the tabs in the outline and not just the clothing. Decorate the clothing in any way that you wish.
