For its third edition, the biennal crosses the ocean and associates itself with le Fresnoy in France and becomes; Toronto/Montreal/Lille. The School of Image Arts at Ryerson University in cooperation with the School Of Media and Visual Arts at the University of Quebec in Montreal and Le Fresnoy, Studio national des arts contemporains and a number of institutions, artist-run centres and arts administrators in Toronto, Montreal and Lille, is hosting a conference: Toronto/Montreal/Lille: TOGETHER ELSEWHERE. This interdisciplinary conference, in its third edition, will take place from January 31st through February 2, 2008 in Toronto. It has the overall aim of presenting new work in a variety of forms to the Toronto, Montreal and Lille arts communities and encouraging interaction between academic and artist-run organizations. During the biennal Alain Fleischer’s latest movie title GODARD will be screened. TOGETHER ELSEWHERE, a title full of poetry, a desire for being together, a community of interest, also suggests the notion of tele-presence. A desire to break geographical space to meet. This conference will feature presentations by specialists and artists coming from varied backgrounds in the Arts and Sciences and will be focused in 3 main areas: –  Film – Photography – New Media All presentations will be twenty minutes long in French or English. French conference will have simultaneous English translation.
