On July 15, 1942, a secret Order in Council allocated $4,900,000 [$90 million in 2024 dollars] for the Canadian government to buy sufficient Eldorado stock to have effective control of the company. In July and December 1942, Eldorado signed exclusive contracts with the Americans for 350 and then an additional 500 tons of uranium.
