Setsuko Thurlow and the Hiroshima Nagasaki Day Coalition successfully lobbied Toronto City Council to preserve the City Hall Peace Garden on Nathan Phillips Square.
For the rededication of the Peace Garden on May 18, 2016, Aboriginal Elder Cat Crieger welcomed the audience to the original lands of the First Nations on which City Hall stands and performed the traditional smudging ceremony.
